Job Description:

Our client are a major naval technology company currently seeking an experienced, senior project manager to join them in their Greenford offices. Job Purpose As a Senior Project Manager you will be responsible for all aspects of project delivery from inception through to entry in to service. As the primary customer interface, strong interpersonal skills are a must for this role with the ability to build a rapport with customers to help build and develop future business opportunities within the marketplace and in time becoming a domain expert for the products offered (Sonar Systems) and using that knowledge to influence the technology roadmaps. Reporting to the Head of Programmes, the ideal candidate will have a breadth of experience in engineering lifecycle project management preferably from a similar domain, with an interest in product strategy and developing a follow-on sales order book. A truly global business, projects span from New Zealand to Turkey with a need to travel frequently. You should be comfortable travelling abroad and confident in working across different language and cultural boundaries. Long term career planning will be provided; giving PMI accredited training and increased programme management responsibility based on performance. Key Responsibilities - Project planning and implementation from scope definition through to execution, meeting identified objectives, timelines and budgets - Identification of resource requirements, and Management of assigned resources - Development and assignment of packages of work and monitoring of progress against an agreed schedule - Internal liaison with all relevant departments and personnel to ensure that business requirements are met - Customer interface and key contact for external parties, interpreting and communicating customer requirements to internal stakeholders - Development comprehensive project plans and schedules to drive project execution and track performance - Leading project submissions to Governance reviews, supporting the achievement of appropriate executive oversight - Managing daily operational aspects of assigned projects, providing direction and support to team members, identifying solutions when required to achieve objectives - Timely and accurate project progress reporting to stakeholders - Project Quality Control and champion for adoption of 'best practise' and continuous improvement. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required - Educated to Degree level or equivalent in an Engineering related discipline - Qualification in project management or equivalent preferred - Significant proven experience in successfully managing complex engineering projects - Experience of preparing bids - Background in the defence industry or similar complex technology domain - Experience in understanding risk management and how to mitigate identified risks - Appreciation of advanced Project Management tools and techniques including Earned Value Management and Schedule Risk Analysis - The successful candidate must be capable of achieving security (SC) clearance as a minimum.
