Materials Planner
Salary £24,000-£30,000 on experience+ benefits
Based in North Buckinghamshire
Are you an experienced Materials Planner who is looking to work in a fast paced manufacturing environment?
The main purpose of the role is to ensure that customers' ever changing requirements are communicated, planned for and fulfilled through the effective planning of manufactured and purchased material. You will need to take into account material and production constraints to maximise the effective use of resources and minimise disruption to material processing.
Key Responsibilities:-
*Be the primary point of contact for customers' logistical matters including: schedule queries, shipping confirmation and supply planning
*Review, input and audit scheduling parameters in line with production and customer requirements
*Through the electronic data interface (EDI) manage the exchange of digital schedules and shipping information with customers as appropriate
*Establish and maintain "best practice" planning and scheduling disciplines within a "Navision" ERP environment
*Develop and implement planning strategies to support the achievement of company objectives on stock turnovers operating efficiencies and related targets, e.g. KANBAN and Consignment Stock
*Proactively seek to resolve inconsistencies in the planning process and supply chain performance
*Liaise with production to manage the release of production orders and monitor progress against plans
*Continuous Improvement of the Logistics system and processes to maximise the efficient use of "Navision" and more broadly as part of cross-functional teams for problem solving within all areas of the business
*Collect and report planning performance data as required to support the achievement of company objectives
*Manage the incoming Supply-Chain to ensure sufficient timely stock to support the requirements of Production
*Support the Logistics team (Stores, Inventory Control, Customer Services, Expediting and Warehouse) in the achievement of Company objectives related to inventory and planning
*Support stock taking and the ever changing inventory activities and the subsequent resolution of identified discrepancies
*Effectively manage the implementation of product changes, implementation phase of change control to minimise obsolescence and disturbance to manufacturing or supply
*Help to cross train colleagues to up-skill and ensure adequate cover is in place for holidays and unplanned absence
*Identify and quantify potential benefits from third party activities e.g. warehousing, transportation, customs clearing etc
*With the procurement team, assist in developing an effective supplier rating system
Your Experience and Qualifications:
*Experience in a similar Materials Planning role
*This must have been in a medium/high volume role within Manufacturing
*Experience of Materials Planning for plastic injection moulding is of particular interest
*Strong Numeracy skills
*Proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel (Vlookup, pivot tables etc)
*Proven experience with MRP/ERP Inventory control systems
*Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and internal/external customers
