Data Security Manager – Abingdon, Oxfordshire Our client is a leader in the research and development of T cell-based therapies for the treatment of cancer. The business is rapidly growing in both the UK and USA and they have multiple early-phase clinical trials ongoing in oncology centres across both the US and Europe. Based just outside Oxford, our client offers the opportunity to take part in pioneering the commercial development of T cell therapy. The business is rapidly growing in both the UK and US and is now looking for a Data Security Manager. This role, reporting into the General Counsel is required to specify, document, manage and help implement all aspects of data security and IT security within the business including setting up appropriate data security policies. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assess data and security risks within the business, in particular where company data is held by third parties. Propose policies to manage data and security risks. Provide technical leadership in understanding and managing the security architecture and security infrastructure for pharmaceutical products including during clinical trials. Work with the Group IT Director and other teams within the business to implement and manage information security policies and mitigate and address any information security risks. Where relevant work with the Group IT Director to specify, develop solutions (tools and processes) that can be implemented to ensure confidentiality and integrity of information and data across the business. Advise peers as to good security practice and ensure any proposed security measures are adopted and met. Assist in the management and setting up of IT security or data security packages and systems including in relation to clinical data packages. Assist in allocating and managing access rights for employees and carrying out regular user access audits. Implementing and developing policies for access rights and document control. Provision of training where necessary and expert advice in relation to any data security issues identified. To manage and assess general IT security level and routinely audit security level. PERSON SPECIFICATION Previous information security experience essential. Network security experience essential. Experience within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company preferred. Previous experience working with cloud based systems preferred. Ability to manage and interface between various business teams. Familiarity with the Data Protection Act and equivalent international privacy and data protection provisions, particularly in the US. Good communication skills (both verbal and written). Enthusiastic approach to problem solving within a business context. Experience managing clinical data packages and systems preferred. Experience of VPN and encryption technologies.
