Our client, a globally recognised engineering organisation, operates its portfolio as an umbrella of specialist businesses designing, manufacturing and supporting electronic and electro-mechanical systems, sub-systems and products for defence, security, transport and energy applications worldwide. We are currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the team to be responsible for developing desktop software for a variety of applications including managing security products, distributed key management and cryptographic drivers. Most applications use Windows technology with some using UNIX and Linux. The Senior Software Engineer will have no line management or budgetary responsibilities. You will be joining a small engineering team; the duration of projects can vary in timescales from a few weeks to a few years. The Senior Software Engineer should have the following experience; Extensive software development - full lifecycle Software design methodologies Producing technical documentation C/C++ and C# Microsoft Windows At least one of WinForms, WPR or MFC Desirable: *UNIX, Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris or OS X *Qt, VB6 or WCF *Microsoft .Net 2.0-4.0 *Visual Studio *SQL or SQL Server *SNMP or LDAP *Perforce, CVS, GIT or Subversion *TCP/IP and related network protocols *Unit Test Frameworks or Mocking Frameworks *A degree, HND (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a mathematically-based science The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for *Active participation in the full software development life-cycle, from initial requirements capture to post-development support, including: *Design and development of new software *Maintenance and enhancement of existing software *Writing design documentation *Undertaking peer code reviews *Writing and performing unit and system tests *Working in line with the department's software development processes *Managing the security of information as defined in the Security manual To arrange an interview for this position, please contact Anne Taylor at Gold Group on (Apply online only) / This advert was posted by Gold Group - one of the UK's leading niche recruitment consultancies.
