Our client, a globally recognised engineering organisation, operates its portfolio as an umbrella of specialist businesses designing, manufacturing and supporting electronic and electro-mechanical systems, sub-systems and products for defence, security, transport and energy applications worldwide. Employing over 4500, the organisation is continuing to expand. We currently have an opportunity for a Solutions Engineer to join the team. This is a hands-on role in all aspects of solutions development, new product introduction and maintenance of the legacy products and solutions. Working closely with Product Managers, other engineers and third party suppliers, the Solutions Engineer will be required to design and develop solutions to meet the requirements. Typical initial design time is 6 weeks per Solution and there could be up to 4 Solutions to be designed and productised. Essential Skills *Good electronics system design knowledge; however, this is not an electronics hardware designer position *Mechanical design *An excellent understanding of LAN, WAN and voice networks, networking equipment, protocols and products *CE marking regulatory requirements *Thermal behaviour of systems *Fault-finding of electronics hardware and software problems *Ability to write manufacturing test specifications for electronics products *Experience working with suppliers and partners Skills - Essential *Electronics communications systems development *Interpretation of requirements *Designing for EMC and safety *High quality documentation *Problem solving *Broad experience in an electronic engineering or system design role in an appropriate industry *B or higher GCSE grades in English, Maths and Science/Technology Desirable HND or degree level qualification Key Responsibilities: *Take a hands-on role in all aspects of solution development *Contribute to system architecture definition *Carry out high-quality system design *Mechanical design is an important aspect of any solution development *Design documentation *Troubleshooting functional and manufacturing issues *Become technically familiar with the company's products, particularly the Communicate range of products, in order to deploy these in solutions design *Establish and maintain good working relationships with Engineering, Pre-Sales, Product Management and Support departments who all have input into any solutions development *Stay up-to-date with any regulatory requirements the company's products must conform to and ensure compliance *Ensure that all documentation such as BoMs, drawings and other items required for manufacturing of products are up-to-date and released to the manufacturers in a timely manner in order to start and complete the builds on time. *Carry out environmental and functional testing of the products as and when required *Manage security of information as defined in the Security manual To arrange an interview for this position, please contact Anne Taylor at Gold Group on (Apply online only) / This advert was posted by Gold Group - one of the UK's leading niche recruitment consultancies.
