Job Summary We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Librarian to join our Library and Information Services team based in our centrally located St Albans office. This is a full-time permanent position working 40hrs per week. Working in a busy professional services library – the successful candidate will have a varied role, supporting a wide range of tasks and library services in a global business. We are looking for a proactive, flexible and team orientated person with strong organisational and communication skills. As an Assistant Librarian you will have the following responsibilities: • Responding to library enquiries and requests for information. • Compiling and circulating specialist current awareness bulletins and targeted notifications. • Circulation of journals and table of contents, along with management of distribution lists and responding to requests for information. • Organising and delivering a hard copy loans service. • Inter-library loans. • Managing controlled documents. • Processing and cataloguing of new acquisitions. • Contribution to promotional activities and creation of resource guides. • Provision of ad hoc user training on key databases and information sources. • Work on the integration project to bring together legacy hard copy collections into a single library location. • Day to day hard copy library management – filing, shelving, copying, scanning etc. • Participation in team meetings, discussions and contribute to delivery of library team goals. • General administrative duties as the post requires. Minimum Requirements • Experience of working in a library/information environment. • Experience of providing enquiry and current awareness services. • Knowledge of library systems and processes. • Knowledge of the construction/built environment sector would be highly beneficial. Preferred Qualifications • Ideally a degree-level qualification in a Library and Information Science related discipline. • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development, e.g. working towards Chartered membership of CILIP.
