Job Description:
Synthetic Environments Engineer - Software Your experience developing Real Time Software Components to simulate system and sub system behaviours would prove invaluable to my client. You will play a central role in the design and development of synthetic environment projects. Join a focussed and dynamic team, to design, develop and integrate simulations and real equipment to support Weapon System development through the exploitation of Synthetic Environment technologies. This will range from early concept studies employing relatively low fidelity models, to experiments incorporating real equipment and military personnel across the client Experimentation and System Integration capability. Key Responsibilities of the Job: Designing simulation architectures and software applications that model our current and future complex Missile and Weapon Systems. Developing real-time software components to simulate system and sub-system behaviours using advanced simulation technologies and the latest visualisation toolsets. Integrating software components and real equipment to provide an end-to-end representation of the system that is used to support validation in conjunction with the end-user in-the-loop. Using cutting edge technologies to advance the use of simulation in support of Weapon System development Skills and Experience Required: Engineering degree qualified or equivalent experience in mathematics Awareness and/or willingness to learn the aspects of simulation standards (DIS and HLA) A proven ability to develop real-time software Proficient in one or more of the following programming languages: C++, C#, Java An ability to comprehend and pull-through the high level/system view into technical detail required to design, develop and deliver software applications A good understanding of the Component Based Development approach and its application to supporting re-use and distributed integration Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills Good working knowledge of using Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems Desirable: Development environments (Microsoft Visual Studio, Eclipse, NetBeans, Qt) Distributed simulation standards / Protocols (DIS, HLA, DDS) Web Service development Military Communications, Datalinks and Interfaces such as 1553/1760 and Ethernet TCP/IP Practical knowledge of Software engineering and/or System integration principles and processes Key Skills: Software development, C++, Synthetic Environments, Defence This is an exciting opportunity to work for a growing and leading organisation with an excellent working environment and great career opportunities.
